Frank Sinatra New York Penthouse For Sale - Frank Sinatra's sprawling $7.7 million penthouse has gone up for sale in New York City this week. Frank Sinatra New York Penthouse For Sale, Once the setting for parties which hosted the likes of President John F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and Andy Warhol, the pricey penthouse is located in Manhattan's Upper East Side on 72nd Street.
The "My Way" singer's 3,000-foot square foot former home does need some tender love and care though, according to the New York Post.
"The apartment has been modernized, but it is still set up for someone with that Rat Pack mentality," said Jason Haber, a broker. "It is really for someone who wants to entertain, to have people over, to have dinner parties."
In addition to sweeping views of the East River, the penthouse occupies the 22nd and 23rd floors of the building on East 72nd Street and offers two wraparound terraces, 18-foot ceilings, glass staircase, four bedrooms, and six bathrooms.
Sinatra, native to Hoboken, New Jersey, is an icon of an era as well as to New York City. He obtained the NYC home after divorcing his second wife, Ava Gardner in 1957. While he lived there, the famed crooner began his relationship with Mia Farrow, who would become his third wife.
"We heard stories from neighbors that Marilyn Monroe was there, President Kennedy had been there at some point," noted Haber, according to The NY Post. "Apparently, Sammy Davis Jr. used to enjoy throwing champagne glasses off the balcony, and they would land on the FDR Drive."
Sinatra sold the apartment to his personal physician, celebrity doctor Denton Cox, in 1972. The physician made very few changes to the space, but after his death, the estate was sold to insurance agent Penny Hart in 2008 for $4.8 million. Hart made several renovations, including turning a section of Sinatra's legendary party space into the master bedroom.
"We're taking photos and doing the floor plan now," said Haber of the special home. "The contractor's finishing up some minor touches, but the apartment is ready to go."
